"CAN SPAM" Means They "can spam"We dislike government intervention about as much SPAM... so it's been hard to support trying to get a government "fix" for the SPAM problem. Most of the SPAM here in the US already comes from overseas, even if connected to US firms. Laws to stop spam will be circumvented... but you got to admit, it's something to look at. Finally, the US Federal Government came up with a law CAN SPAM that goes after the real bad stuff, the stuff that floods your inbox with multiple copies, fake headers (TO: FROM: SUBJ:) pretending to be an important business document. The whole definition of SPAM is so messed up that many people think any message they didn't specifically ask for is SPAM. That's going a little too far.. how can you legitimately contact your customers or friends if you have to ask there permission to ask them if they're interested in something? A quick read of the new law that took effect on Jan 1, 2004 looks like somebody "gets" the real definition of SPAM "multiple postings of the same message (ala the Monty Python sketch). Whatever you think... this is the law in the US. You can read the full law here At LaserPage, we only send mail to people who have either registered at the site, or sent us email. Every message comes with a one click unsubscribe message at the bottom, and we'd never rent, sell, share your private information with anyone. We've found that as long as you stick to lists like ours, you have very little chance of getting garbage mail. LaserPage Support Special Offers Copyright 2003, LaserPage.com, all rights reserved |
