The Japanese corporation has announced four new printers today–the Pixma MX897, MX517, MX437 and MX377. The first three models are wireless-enabled and can be used with Apple‘s AirPrint standard to print documents over a Wi-Fi network, without the need for drivers.
At the head of the pack is the Pixma MX897, which is the fastest model, reaching 12.5 images-per-minute (ipm) in black and white. It’s also the only model to feature Google’s Cloud Print, which allows users to print Gmail messages, attachments and selected Google Docs on the go. Canon has even included Pixma Cloud Link, a feature which lets users print documents from the company’s own cloud server as well as Google’s Picasa without the need for a computer.
The models in the middle, the Pixma MX517 and MX437, also come with wireless capabilities but are only compatible with AirPrint. This is a useful feature though and makes for easy printing from iOS devices such as the Apple iPad and iPhone 4S. The entry-level MX377 model doesn’t boast any wireless connectivity, but comes with an acceptably fast print speed of 8.7ipm.
The Pixma MX897, MX517, MX437 and MX377 will retail at S$399, S$299, S$259 and S$199 respectively. They will be out in Singapore stores by end April.
