An homage to the versatility and iconic status of Pantone colours has been released in the form of a coffee-table book celebrating colour printing.
The book, called ‘Pantone: the 20th Century in Colour’, has been created by colour specialists and Pantone consultants Keith Recker and Leatrice Eiseman and it explores the usage of Pantone colour in various aspects of life throughout the 20th century. The book looks at art, fashion and product design and how each of these mediums has embraced Pantone colours.
Even today in the 21st century, many of the printed items that we come into contact with have been created using Pantone references to set up the necessary printers to achieve full colour printing.
Altrincham residents can pick up the Pantone book from the Manchester branch of independent bookshop, Magma. The book is also available to buy online from the Magma website. ‘Pantone: the 20th Century in Colour’ also explores trends in colour and new developments in colour printing. It also matches familiar works of art to its colour chart, making for a fascinating read for anyone interested in design or printing.
Printing shops in Altrincham use a variety of printing methods and techniques to create and set designs to ensure the finished result matches the initial concept. Pantone references often play a large and important part in the printing of brochures, flyers and stationery and it is a key factor to the success of many pieces of printed promotional material.
