CHICAGO, IL —
The Illinois Technology Foundation (ITF) is pleased to announce that New Horizons Computer Learning Centers (Chicago) will provide each Fifty for the Future® awardee a $1,000 scholarship and a separate $1,000 scholarship to his or her faculty sponsor. In addition, a special drawing will be held at the annual celebration where New Horizons will award an additional $5,000 scholarship to one of the awardees. Recipients of the award will be able to apply the scholarship to New Horizons’ extensive catalog of offerings.
“We are pleased to lend our support to the Fifty for the Future® program,” says Mark McManus, Jr., CEO of New Horizons Learning Centers. “The program has a long history of identifying top student talent in the Illinois market and we are excited to reward students and faculty involved in the program.”
Entering its 6th year, the Annual Foundation Fifty for the Future® Competition and Awards program recognizes exceptional students with an interest in and potential to use technology in innovative ways. Fifty for the Future® provides encouragement and recognition to students who pursue innovation through technology, providing access to business leaders to showcase their talent. Winners are chosen through a rigorous nomination and judging process, focused on high school through university and graduate-level programs. The celebration is attended by industry leaders, judges, winners and their families, and other supporters of the technology industry.
“We are most grateful to New Horizons for this generous gift to the Illinois information technology community,” says Bill Waas, Chairman of the Illinois Technology Foundation. “Not only does it recognize Fifty for the Future® awardees, it also recognizes our hardworking and dedicated academic community.”
The Illinois Technology Foundation, an affiliate of the Illinois Technology Association, is dedicated to the development of the future technology leaders of Illinois through active industry participation in the education process. As a recognized 501(c)(3) and 509 not-for-profit tax-exempt corporation, we work with academic institutions, from K-12 through college level, to encourage and retain technology talent.
