Samsung today unveiled six new A4 colour lasers printers for the home office and small business markets. The company says its new range, which includes single function and multifunction models, is aimed at users who want simple-to-use and easy-to-manage printers, as well as printers that won’t take up too much space on a desk. Wireless, direct printing capabilities will be built-in to five of the new models, which will have support for iOS, Android and Windows devices through Samsung’s Mobile Print Application.

A big selling point for all the new printers is Samsung’s Rendering Engine for Clean Pages (RECP) technology, which improves the print clarity and colour rendering over the company’s previous generation laser printers. All printers in the range will feature RECP, as well as a new Polymerize toner, which Samsung says also helps to produce clearer print quality. All of the new printers except for the entry-level single function model have dual CPUs at their disposal to speed up data processing and print tasks.

The single function models in the range are the CLP-365W, CLP-415NW and the CLP-680ND/680DW, the first model being an entry-level model with a top speed of 4 pages per minute in colour, with a 2400x600dpi output, manual duplexing and a 150-sheet paper tray. The high-end printer features built-in duplexing, USB printing. Wi-Fi (for the DW version), and improved speed and paper-holding capacity. It’s aimed at business users.

Multifunction models are the CLX-3305FW, CLX-4195FW, and the CLX-6260FD/FR/FW. For the entry-level multifunction unit, which can print, scan and copy, you can expect a top print speed of 4ppm in colour, Wi-Fi direct printing, manual duplexing, USB printing and a 150-page paper cassette. The other models add colour touchscreen interfaces, faxing capability, higher print speeds and beefier paper handling — the business-oriented CLX-6260FW can do 24ppm in colour, has a paper capacity of 250 sheets and a duty cycle of 60000 pages per month.

Anti-paper jamming technology is also being touted by Samsung, as well as high-yield toner cartridges, which the company hopes will result in a low total cost of ownership. The new design of the printers makes them much easier to service than the models in the previous range, with cartridge replacement, for example, being doable with just one hand from the front of the machine, and the new cartridge layout has resulted in printers that are smaller than before.

Printers in the range that use Samsung’s SyncThru Web Service (such as the CLP-680, also have built-in support for Google Cloud Print, which will make it simple to print documents from anywhere to your home or office, as long as you have an Internet connection.
