Wireless Activity & Sleep Trackers From Fitbit


It’s finally here, that cool new toy you wanted to keep with you all hours of the day even while you sleep! Fitbit has a cool new gadget for the health conscious and/or fitness buff out there.

The Fitbit Tracker uses a three-dimensional accelerometer, to sense user movement. The Tracker measures steps taken, and combines it with user data to calculate distance walked, calories burned, floors climbed, and activity duration and intensity. It uses an OLED display to display this and other information such as the battery level. It also measures sleep quality how long it takes the wearer to fall asleep, how often they wake up over the course of the night, and how long they are actually asleep.

A wireless base station is included to receive data from the Tracker and also charge its battery. When connected to a computer the base station will upload data to the Fitbit. From the website, a number of features are possible: seeing an overview of physical activity, setting and tracking goals, keeping both a food and activity log, and interacting with friends. Use of the website is free.

There are several different designs offered by Fitbit so it is likely you’ll find that one activity and food tracker that is perfect for you.  For some of you the ability to stay motivated and to keep moving with real-time stats might be important and the convenience of having it right on your wrist makes this a truly unique thing. This thing will track steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, stairs climbed and active minutes throughout the day. And something crazy is that at night your Fitbit tracks your sleep and you can wake up silently with a vibrating alarm.

All this from a wristwatch and it it tells time, what’s next, phone calls? Oh wait that’s the Galaxy Gear watch.
